Emily Melton

Emily moved to New York just over a year ago after graduating from the University of Alabama (Roll Tide!). She currently works as an HR Generalist for Dow Jones. When she isn't working, you can find her looking for a taste of home at a Southern restaurant, exploring the Met, or watching college football. 
 

How did you find out about nycTIES?

Through extensive Google searching. I knew what I was looking for but wasn't sure where to find it. nycTIES turned out to be the perfect balance of serving and socializing. 

What is your favorite nycTIES memory?

My favorite nycTIES memory so far is volunteering for the All Stars Project. It was a great opportunity to support a worthy cause while meeting other young professionals. I also got to see a great show for free! 

What are three of your favorite NYC spots?

  1. The Moroccan Court at the Met
  2. Nelson Rockefeller Park
  3. Rockaway Beach (& the Surf Club)

Heather Franczak

Heather moved to NYC four years ago after she graduated from Kutztown University for Business Management. She is currently working at ECAP as an Office Manager, and when she isn't working she enjoys exploring Astoria where she currently resides. 
 

How did you find out about nycTIES?

I wanted to join a fun group that also helps the community. I did some research and found this organization to be a great fit. 

What is your favorite nycTIES memory?

My favorite charity event was when we did an Improv session with All-Stars. We did exercises that helped them get ready to network at their event. It was amazing to hear their dreams that they have about their futures. 

What are three of your favorite NYC spots?

  1. The parks along the west side highway

  2. Astoria Park

  3. Central Park


JUNE

Amanda Matthews

Amanda is originally from upstate New York, and has called NYC home for the past six years, living the past two years on the Upper East Side. She studied Communication & Psychology at the University at Buffalo, and since graduating has worked in consumer research. For the past two years she’s worked for a tech company that measures the impact of video advertising.
 

 

How did you find out about nycTIES?
I discovered nycTIES through Google search [I had started a new job with lots more free-time on my hands so wanted to make sure I was using it productively, ha]

What is your favorite nycTIES memory?
My favorite nycTIES memory was face-painting at the East Harlem Ethnic Festival - too cute!

What are three of your favorite NYC spots?

  1. Food: Rubirosa on Mulberry

  2. Drink: Frying Pan in Summer

  3. Fun: Royal Palms Shuffleboard Club
