Job Opportunity – StartingBloc

StartingBloc is committed to becoming a truly sustainable organization. As we continue to move from an educational institution to a lifelong Fellowship, we are building the systems that will enable StartingBloc to serve its Fellows for years to come.

With an eye for sustainability, StartingBloc is now searching for it’s next staff member. The next Fellowship Director will be in charge of facilitating new connections and deepening existing ones for a community that grows to 1800 Fellows in 2012.

Our current Fellowship Director, Sarah Bishop (LON ’08), has spent more than two years evolving the role. She exceeded expectations from the start, transforming the position to lead teams of more than 50 volunteers each year. Now Sarah is applying for graduate school, and we know that whichever program she chooses will be lucky to have her. While her last day at StartingBloc is still far in the future, our commitment to sustainability leads us to begin searching for her successor now.

We are planning an extensive knowledge transfer process for the next bright leader who steps into the Fellowship Director position. This new hire will work with Sarah over the course of several months to build new programs and jointly implement an entire recruitment, admissions, and Institute cycle.

Sarah has built a solid foundation for the Fellowship Director position, and we can’t wait to see what’s next. Ready to take the reigns? Learn more about the selection process, and apply for the position by sending a cover letter and resume to jobs@startingbloc.org.

We are incredibly proud of the strong foundation that has been built at StartingBloc, and look forward to the next wave of innovations that will strengthen our community of Fellows.

Sincerely,

Adriana Pentz (BOS ’07)

Volunteer Opportunity – Web Developer

Do the words “HTML”, “Javascript”, and “SQL” mean everything to you? Okay, do they mean something to you? If so, NYCTies needs your help! We are looking for a web developer who can help maintain and create sections of the website as well as work closely with our partner charity to promote the cause. Graphic design experience wouldn’t hurt either, just sayin’. In addition to the technical skills, you must work well with others- yes, that old kindergarten gem- and be a good ambassador for nycTIES. Now if you’re worried about what this is going to do to your Jersey Shore-watching time, fear not. You can work on your own time and you can also list any and all of your contributions on a professional resume. If this sounds like a good fit for you, please contact Gerren Scoon at gscoon@gmail.com and he can fill you in on all the rest. Thanks!

Volunteer Opportunity – Constant Contact Coordinator

If ”human rolodex” is something your friends like to call you, then you should probably think about getting some new friends. But, first, nycTIES needs you and your impressive organizational skills! We are looking for somebody to keep our contact list up to date to make sure that everyone who joins nycTIES is in the loop about all the great events and activities that we have coming up. The time commitment is minimal and completely ad hoc (look it up) so it’s an easy yet meaningful way to get more involved. Stephen Lee steplee04@gmail.com can answer whatever questions you may have but let’s just say if The Container Store thrills you at all, then this is the job for you. Thanks!
