nycTIES Launches The Apple Initiative

The APPLE INITIATIVE (Advancing Professionals through Philanthropic Leadership Experiences) is an innovative leadership development program that guides young professionals through the lifecycle of non-profit involvement from being a volunteer all the way to serving on a non-profit board, while simultaneously teaching the young professionals about the non-profit sector and developing both their leadership and professional skills. This new program will develop young professionals into industry leaders through hands-on philanthropic projects, access cutting-edge speakers and content and leadership skill development. Candidates will be selected through an application and interview process from a pool of nycTIES volunteers and serve in a progression of leadership positions with increasing responsibilities

A pilot phase of APPLE will launch in early 2010, in which a collection of our members will begin meeting the benchmarks required to complete the innovative multi-year track. Our inaugural class of APPLE Initiative candidates will be comprised of a smaller sub-set of our membership, as it is significantly more intensive than typical membership.
