What We Do
nycTIES: building strong TIES to NYC
nycTIES is a non-profit service organization comprised of young professionals committed to building strong ties within the NYC community through philanthropic giving. We develop partnerships with local charities, addressing a range of causes that are severely afflicting our city. Striving to become New York City’s premiere young professional philanthropic organization, nycTIES stands firmly on its two main pillars: A philanthropic process known for Accountable Fundraising and our young professional’s Leadership Development Program. The Four Steps of Accountable Fundraising:
Step 1: Build a RelationshipnycTIES establishes a 6-month partnership with a local charity. During the course of this partnership, members begin to develop a connection with the partnering charity through “pre-events”, where they volunteer with the charity in various activities, and build a strong understanding of the charity's goals. Step 2: Raise Awareness & Funds nycTIES hosts a benefit to both raise funds and awareness for its charity partner. During these events we bring together hundreds of other young professionals, educate them about the cause we’re working with and encourage them to donate their time, talents, and money. To date we have raised over $110,000 for our partner charities. Step 3: Implement Funds nycTIES works closely with the charity partner to identify several options where our donation can make the greatest tangible impact. Our members then vote on which program they wish to allocate the funds. By voting on a program, our members are given emotional responsibility as to how the money is used. Step 4: Strengthen TIES to NYC nycTIES’ fundraising partnerships are designed to launch a long-standing relationship with local charities. Once the winning program is selected, our members roll up their sleeves and help implement the program. Throughout the entire process our members build a strong relationship with our charity partners. Moving forward we remain close with our partners to provide ongoing services and volunteer support.
