What We Do

nycTIES: building TIES to nyc through Accountable Fundraising

nycTIES (formerly Guys with Ties) is a non-profit organization comprised of young professionals committed to building strong ties within the NYC community through charitable involvement. We involve our members throughout the entire donation process and refer to this as accountable fundraising.

The four steps of Accountable Fundraising:

Step 1: Build a Relationship

harlem rbinycTIES partners with a new charity for each of their events and strives to build a strong foundation and understanding of the charity's goals.

nycTIES accomplishes this by holding "pre-events" where its members work hand in hand with the charity in an activity unique to the charity's cause.

Step 2: Raise Awareness & Funds

spring benefitnycTIES then hosts a benefit to raise funds and awareness for the charity. Since it's inception in April 2006, nycTIES has raised over $30,000 for local NYC charities.

These fundraising benefits feature:

  • Hundreds of Young Professionals
  • Speakers Representing The Partner Charity
  • Live Entertainment (Bands, Comedians, Magicians, etc.)
  • Silent Auctions
  • Raffle Prizes
  • Gift Bags
  • Food

Step 3: Implement Funds

nycTIES works closely with the partner charity to identify 3 local programs where the nycTIES donation can make the greatest tangible impact.

nycTIES members then vote on which program they want to allocate their funds towards. By voting on a program, our members are given emotionally responsibility as to how their donation is used.

Step 4: Strengthen TIES to NYC

cpr anytimenycTIES members don't stop there. The nycTIES fundraising benefits are designed to kick-off a long standing relationship.

Once the "winning" program is selected, nycTIES members role up their sleeves and help implement the program.

Many nycTIES members have built such a strong relationship with the charity throughout the process that they often stay on as full-time volunteers.

If you are a NYC Young Professional looking to strengthen your TIES to the community, then nycTIES is the place for you. Check out our section.
