ALEX PRICE

nycTIES co-founder/president, Alex Price, works day-to-day with the organization's leadership team and charity partners while also helping to establish nycTIES' strategic mission.

Alex's roots in philanthropy first caught hold as a young child when his dad, Billy, would take him to soup kitchens to help feed the homeless, and when his family - despite their modest means - would annually provide a full Christmas for a needy family during the holiday season.

Tragically, Billy Price died of a heart attack in 2005, and the following year, Alex - with the help of nycTIES co-founders Bharani Rajakumar, Danielle Bridie and Mathew Farkash - held a charity benefit for the American Heart Association to commemorate his father's passing.

This event raised $10,000 and with its success, Alex, Bharani, Danielle and Mathew realized the potential philanthropic power a collection of young, eager New York City professionals could wield, thus nycTIES was born.

Alex hails from Pensacola, Fla., and is the son of Penny and the late Billy Price, and brother to Amy Broderson. He earned his Bachelor's Degree from Florida State University and graduated with his Master's Degree in Strategic Communications at Columbia University this spring. He is currently serving as the Manager of Communications at New York City's Fund for Public Schools.

MATHEW FARKASH

nycTIES co-founderNo stranger to community service, Mathew has volunteered in the past as an assistant basketball/softball coach for the Special Olympics in Orlando, Fla., and Providence, R.I. He also helped managed the stateside operations for Biketheworld.org, which held a 5000km bike trip across China which raised awareness and $10,000 for autism research.

Mathew's involvement in nycTIES stemmed from his friendship with cofounder, Alex Price, and his desire to help Alex commemorate his father's untimely passing. Mathew also had a deep-seeded desire to combine an entrepreneurial spirit with giving back to his community. With this spirit spurring him on, Mathew helped conceptualize one of nycTIES' key precepts: accountable fundraising, a process in which nycTIES' members decide how raised funds will be implemented by charity partners, thereby allowing them to see the tangible effect of their work.

Mathew hails from Longwood, Fla., and is the son of Sandra and Martin Farkash, and brother to Evan Farkash. He is a graduate of Brown University and is currently pursuing his Master's in Business Administration at the Stern School of Business at New York University.
